A Byron Bay whale watching tour is the perfect way to see these gentle giants up close as they pass by on their migration journey.

The annual whale migration in Australia is a must-see if you’re travelling the East Coast between late May and early November.

As the most Easterly point of Australia, Byron Bay is one of the prime whale watching locations, with hundreds of humpback whales cruising past close to the shore each year.

These beautiful ocean dwellers head north to their breeding grounds and then migrate back down south with their newborn calves in the later part of the season – jumping, tail slapping, and playing in the water.

On this wale watching tour with the crew of Wild Byron, you’ll depart from Brunswick Harbour and head out to Cape Byron Marine Park in search of whales, stopping off to spot the local dolphins and turtles along the way.

Keep your camera at the ready as the whales regularly come close to the boats and they enjoy a cheer as they jump out of the water to show off!

There’s also a hydrophone onboard, so you can hear the beauty of whale song as they swim by!

Tours operate from Brunswick Heads Marina just 15 mins from Byron Bay.

This was the highlight of our trip to Byron Bay. We saw lots of whales jumping and slapping their tails, some of them really close! Glen was a great skipper and so knowledeable.
